Apprenticeships are government funded work-based training programmes for people aged 16 and over. They combine on the job training with nationally recognised qualifications and are a great way build a skilled and motivated workforce.
So in other words, you will be taught in salon on specific days whilst actually practising your hairdressing skills! You can then apply these new skills throughout the rest of the week as you continue to work in your chosen salon.
Apprenticeships allow you to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with classroom learning. You’ll be employed at a hair salon while studying for a formal qualification, for one day a week either at your work placement or one of our local partner hair salons. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to either succeed in your chosen career or progress onto the next apprenticeship level. Apprentices follow an approved study programme, which means you’ll gain a nationally-recognised qualification at the end of your apprenticeship.
Our courses have been carefully designed to motivate young people who want to be hairdressers to be the best that they can be.
We offer training that is designed to deliver a real work based experience and use professional teaching staff from within the industry to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the modern salon environment.
Our innovative Apprenticeship will also offer key employability skills such as customer service, commercial salon awareness and product sales.
Lets start with probably the most obvious reason! As you’ll already know, you can earn a wage whilst learning the skills you need to get your qualification. As a young adult, you’ll know the struggle of having a dry bank account – but unlike college, your employer will give you a wage for the hours you spend working and learning in the salon! The current hourly rate is £3.90 – it’s extra money in your pocket at the end of the day after you’ve been working hard towards your qualification!
For starters, when you begin your apprenticeship, you might not have all of the grades required to go on to the next level of your chosen career – and this is where the Functional Skills module comes in! However, throughout your course you will acquire countless new skills and qualities that will aid you in getting your qualification and your future. Skill such as customer service, communication and self-management will also help to improve your employability.
When you begin your apprenticeship you’ll be assigned a tutor who is the person primarily responsible for supporting you throughout your time with us. They’re there to assist you in whatever you need and answer any of your questions at any point – they’ll be on hand whenever you need them! We pride ourselves on giving every student bespoke training that is suited to their individual needs. By having small class sizes of 6-8, we can give each student all the attention and support they require!
As you will see, working life is completely different to being in school or college and an employer will recognise this! Experience is priceless when it comes to employers looking through their candidates – it will most likely bump you up above the rest! You will have gained rich first-hand work experience, this will speak for itself! Employers will see that you were able to apply yourself to the demands of a full-time job whilst also studying to complete your qualification.
