It is the policy at E.L.M Academy to ensure that the safety and welfare of all our students is maintained to the
highest possible standard.

We have a learner liaison support officer who is available whenever any learner is in need.

Staff at E.L.M Academy are allowed to assist learners to any counselling sessions, termination appointments,
group/support meetings etc if the learner wishes.

The college is in charge of;
  •  Ensuring that all staff are DBS checked (disclosure and barring service)
  •  Keep up to date with any new safeguarding policies
  •  Has a list of contact numbers that learners can access and use when required
  •  Ensuring all relevant training is carried out and kept up to date.

How we protect our learners

  • Learners are asked to attend a one to one learner review every 12 weeks to check the learners’ progress. This also enables the student to discuss any issues and problems they may be having at college or within the salon. It is stressed however, that E.L.M Academy has an open door policy if a learner ever requires a meeting with the Training Director, Training Manager or Learner Liaison Officer.
  •  Every salon is reviewed at the initial assessment in regards to child welfare and protection to ensure they are a suitable workplace for learners. Learners are made aware of who to contact with regards to any emergencies that may occur when placed within a salon.
  • All members of staff have a DBS check to ensure that all members of staff have the ability to work directly with young learners.
  • All member of staff have basic child protection knowledge and there is a written policy with reference to young learner protection and abuse. All members of staff are made aware that they can refer to this policy if an event occurs.
